The real desert, the one without roads
This trek is for those who want more than an hour's ride. You cross Erg Chebbi from north to south by camel and on foot, stop for lunch in the shade of a tamarisk and reach a simple bivouac, far from the other camps.
In the evening dinner is cooked on the embers and bread in the sand, as the nomads do. No generators, no loud music: just the fire, the stars and the silence.

FAQ
Do I need to be fit?
No, but you need to be in good health: you walk 3-4 hours a day on sand, alternating with the camel.
Are there bathrooms at the bivouac?
No, the bivouac is simple and nomadic: there's water to wash with, but no showers. That's exactly its charm.
Can it be done in summer?
From June to August we don't recommend it because of the heat. The best period is from October to April.
