Charming riads and kasbahs and, in the desert, comfortable Berber tents with an authentic atmosphere.
Options and supplement4 days with more time in the desert and less rush
Arriving in the desert after eight hours on the road and leaving the next morning is a shame. With this version you get a full day in Merzouga: the 4×4 tour with the nomads, the Gnawa village of Khamlia, lunch with medfouna and a second sunset, perhaps on a sandboard.
You spend the first night in a hotel at the foot of the dunes and the second at the desert camp: that way you reach the desert well rested.
We cross the Middle Atlas with stops in Ifrane and the Azrou cedar forest, lunch in Midelt and then the Ziz gorges. Arrival in Merzouga at sunset and a night in a hotel with a pool at the foot of the dunes.
A morning by 4x4: a nomad family who offers us tea, the old mines, the village of Khamlia with its Gnawa music and, if it has rained, the flamingo lake. Lunch with medfouna in Rissani. In the late afternoon you ride a camel to the camp. Dinner under the stars.
Sunrise on the dunes, then west: the khettaras of Tinejdad, the Todra Gorge on foot and the drive up into the Dadès valley. Night in a guesthouse.
The Valley of Roses, the Skoura kasbah, Ouarzazate and a visit of Aït Ben Haddou. Then the Tizi n'Tichka pass and arrival in Marrakech in the evening.
Charming riads and kasbahs and, in the desert, comfortable Berber tents with an authentic atmosphere.
