Itinerary: Errachidia, Merzouga and the Todra Gorge in 3 days

   Day 1 · Errachidia — Erfoud — Rissani — Merzouga

   We pick you up in the morning and drive down the Ziz valley: from the viewpoint over the palm grove you'll see why it is called the 'river of palms'. In Erfoud we stop at a fossil workshop and in Rissani we walk into the souk and the mud-brick ksars. In the afternoon we reach the dunes: you leave your big suitcase in the vehicle and ride a camel to the camp, just in time for sunset. Dinner with tajine, mint tea and drums around the fire.

   Day 2 · Day in the Merzouga desert

   If you like, get up for sunrise on the dune behind the camp. After breakfast we set off by 4x4 around the desert: a nomad family who invites us for tea, the village of Khamlia with its Gnawa music, the old lead mines and, after rain, Lake Dayet Srji with its flamingos. Lunch with medfouna in Rissani. Free afternoon: sandboarding, quad or simply a book in the shade. Second night at camp or in a hotel at the foot of the dunes.

   Day 3 · Merzouga — Tinejdad — Todra Gorge — Errachidia

   We leave the dunes after breakfast and head west. In Tinejdad we see the khettaras, underground channels dug by hand to bring water to the oases. Then the Todra Gorge: you walk along the bottom of the canyon among climbers and shepherds with their goats. Lunch in Tinghir overlooking the palm grove and back to Errachidia in the late afternoon.
