Charming riads and kasbahs and, in the desert, comfortable Berber tents with an authentic atmosphere.
Options and supplement5 slow days among the Sahara, canyons and mud-brick villages
There is no rushing on this tour. We sleep in the desert, in the Dadès valley and above all inside a kasbah at Aït Ben Haddou: in the evening and early morning the ksar is all yours, without the coaches of the day trips.
There's also time for the Valley of Roses and a walk among the palms of Skoura, two stops that shorter tours skip.
Ifrane, the Azrou cedars with their macaques, Midelt for lunch and the Ziz gorges. Arrival at the dunes in the late afternoon and a camel ride to the camp for sunset.
Sunrise, breakfast and a morning between Khamlia and the Rissani souk. In the afternoon towards Tinghir and a walk in the Todra Gorge in the warmest light. Night in a hotel near the gorge.
Morning in the Dadès valley, with a short walk among the finger-shaped rocks. Rose water cooperatives in Kelaat M'Gouna and arrival in Skoura: a walk through the palm grove to the Amridil kasbah. Night in a guesthouse among the palms.
Ouarzazate with the Taourirt kasbah and, for those who want, the film studios. Arrival in Aït Ben Haddou in the afternoon: climb to the granary for sunset and a night in a kasbah facing the ksar.
Before leaving, photos of the ksar at dawn. Then the old road through the Ounila valley to the kasbah of Telouet, residence of the Glaoui pashas with its decorated halls, and the Tizi n'Tichka pass. Arrival in Marrakech in the early afternoon.

Yes, today the whole stretch between Aït Ben Haddou and Telouet is paved. It's narrow but very scenic.
If you like cinema, yes: there are sets from famous films. Otherwise we prefer to spend more time at the Taourirt kasbah or in Skoura.
